This can be confusing so let me break things down:

Capitalist: Believes in a free market, or an economic system based on supply and demand. It allows for private business and private property.
Within capitalism there are many parties.
a. democrats
b.republicans
c. Green Party

Communist: believes in revolution of working people, and a goverment run by workers which eventually withers away. It values equality and the end of economic classes.
a. Stalinists- believes that the above can be accomplished through a single party bureaucracy and oppression as stepping stones. they sometimes make concessions with capitalists if it bolsters the power of the party

b.Trotskyists-believe the above can only be accomplished thoiugh international revolution and a genuine goverment of the working people

Democratic Socialists: Some industries are owned by the government, there are controls on income, taxes are high to allow health care and eduction to all citizens. It is a cross between Capitalism and Communism

Anarchists: Believe that people can rule themselves. Are against government, most have a strong faith in humans

b. Christian Anarchists- believe that there is no valid Earthly authority, and look to God instead

Luddite: A workers movement from the 1800s, where workers attacked machines in their factories as a lash out against industializatin and the factory owners. They are against technology and against class rulers.
Overall, they are against technology since it makes life more complex and oppresses workers (think lay offs from new technology which replaces workers)

Nihilist: Believe in nothing. Feel that there is no truth or meaning in the universe. They believe that gods, morals, laws, goverments, etc. are all invented by humans.
They think that these instutions should be destroyed as well as the false truths which perpetuate them.
They could be thought of as a more extreme version of anarchism

Pacifists: Do not believe in just war or violence for any reason at all. They value human life equally. Instead of violence, they employ passive resistance.

Hedonist: Believe that a person should persue their desires and pleasures to live life to the fullest. If this was a politica belief they would likely be somewhat anarchistic in that they do not like laws which would restrict the pursuit of happiness.
Epicurianism (sp?): A type of logical hedonism which a person would only do what causes them pleasure if it did not potentially cause suffering in the long run. For instance, they would not do drugs since although it could be pleasurable, in the long run it causes suffering.
Or...they would follow certain laws to avoid the displeasure of imprisonment. Overall, it is the pursuit of happiness mindful of the potential pleasure reducing consequences of such actions.

Environmentalist: Someone who values the environment and the technologies that would sustain the environment for the future. This can be coupled with other beliefs

b. Anarcho Environmentalists
c. Environmental Feminism

Fascists: Believe in a strong state and military, that the state embodies the spirit of the people, that all people are not equal, war is glorified as a test of man's greatness, that there is a spiritual quality to history, culture, leadership, and the state.
a. National Socialism. the German version of the above

Nationalists: Believe in the self determination of a people. That a certain cultural or religious group have a right to their own land and goverment.

Feminists: Believe that women are oppressed and need to be empowered in society. They seek to challenge gender roles, the image of women in the media, and the expectations of women in society as a whole. They believe that women have a right to control their body, to birth control, and most feminists believe women have a right to terminate their own pregnancy.
a. Revolutionary Feminism- anarchist and communist feminists. They believe that the oppression of women is related to class and government structures and can only be ended by revolution
b. Reform Feminism- feminists who believe in reform within the framework of capitalism can end their oppression
c. Third Wavers: a wave in feminism which would be a type of reform feminism, which says that its okay to wear makeup, fall into old stereotypes, try to look pretty etc.
Because of gender oppression has been internalized there are bound to be hypocracies within the movement and they embrace this.

It can also describe a scholar of the humanities.
Generally they care about human rights and people.
They are not pacifists always, and believe in reform rather than revolution.
