Thoughts on Disease- Here is some information you should probably know about disease’s role in A Heart's Desire.
Disease is no longer a simple part of life like it was in the good-ol’-days. A few bugs still get around, but they only cause fevers, small rashes, and other minor health disorders. Disease is now a weapon secretly used by the government and gang factions to control populations, exterminate groups of people, and other things of that nature.
Here’s a list of a few:
EEP (Engineered Elf Plague)
A plague created to kill Elves. The plague is incapable of reproducing, so it is easily controlled.
HLD (Human Life Disorder)
A disease created by an elf to kill humans. The disease usually is incapable of killing hums, but can cause terrible boils and other forms of discomfort for years at a time.
The Common Cold
You drink orange juice to get rid of it.
SKS (Spirit Killing Splinter)
A disease that only affects spirits and other supernatural beings to keep them in line. It has never been used to try and avoid a war with beings other higher and lower planes.
Smallpox
Smallpox has been re-engineered to kill anyone who is gay or has birth defects. It spreads quickly and most everyone is immune to it, so it’s done a crappy job at what it’s supposed to do.
Other engineered diseases exist, but these are the main ones in the world.
